It was time for our catch up again, out came the sorting hat and Franky and Benny’s was picked!! OK, so previous experiences of this place wasn’t great but that was years ago so it was time to give it another go.
Yup, I checked the menu out way before we were due to go – you know I like to see what my choices are before leaving the house and to be fair the menu is extensive and includes many starters, pasta, salads, pizza, burgers and hot dogs, classics such as BBQ ribs, vegan options and a range of sides. The dessert menu was also looking particularly enticing! I am sure most people will be able to find at least one thing they like, and if they can’t I am not sure they will find any restaurant to cater for them!
We arrived a little early but went straight in and the restaurant has plenty of seating but was pretty empty, we got seated straight away and took a look at the menus. There was a set menu on the table which turned out to have what I wanted on it anyway so we all chose from there – I went with the Mediterranean Grain salad with added grilled chicken and my friends opted for the Burger with sweet potato fries and the lasagne, we also had a freebie of garlic bread as an offer found online.

I do admit it took us a while to decide what we wanted as we got talking and side tracked after not seeing each other for months but, the wait for our food was extreme. Luckily enough we were happily chatting away so it didn’t feel like forever but it was a long time, the waitress apologised numerous times and we could tell it must have been for take always and deliveries as the restaurant still wasn’t exactly busy.
We were given another free garlic bread with cheese which was a nice touch but didn’t deter from the fact the service was quite poor. When the food eventually came out, it was good – I enjoyed my salad and the burger and lasagne looked good, no – not amazing, not great but good. When it came to desserts, well we couldn’t resist the chocolate brownie and that didn’t disappoint!
Once again, we felt like we had outstayed our welcome with the place closing at 10pm and although this was an improvement on past restaurants we still felt like we had plenty to talk about – but perhaps that’s more to do with our catch up than the closing time!
Overall, I would give this a 6/10 – the service was poor particularly when the restaurant wasn’t even very busy, the food was ok / good but not enough to provide a better score!
